Two 15-year-old students were arrested on Wednesday in connection with an incident at Manhattan High School involving battery and disorderly conduct. According to the Riley County Police Department, the arrests occurred at approximately 1 p.m. at 2100 Poyntz Ave., the location of Manhattan High School. The juveniles were taken into custody on several charges, including battery, battery against a school employee, obstructing apprehension or prosecution, and disorderly conduct related to brawling or fighting. A Manhattan man was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon on a warrant related to multiple probation violations. James Johnson, 24, was arrested at approximately 2:25 p.m. on Nov. 5, 2025, in the 1000 block of South Seth Child Road. The arrest was made on a Riley County District Court warrant for three counts of probation violation stemming from original charges of domestic battery. Officers filed the report at approximately 8:27 a.m. on Nov. 5 in the 300 block of North 15th Street. By Emma Laura Antwajuane McNeil, 32, of Ogden asked to withdraw from the service of his defense attorney, Julie Effenbeck, on the third day of his trial in Riley County District Court. McNeil is charged with first-degree murder and kidnapping, aggravated assault, aggravated burglary, criminal discharge of a firearm and interference with a law enforcement officer, all in connection with the death of 58-year-old Don Stovall, who was shot and killed Oct. 19, 2024.
