The U.S. Department of Agriculture on Tuesday said it accidentally fired several officials working on the response to the avian flu outbreak and is trying to get them back. A federal jury on Friday convicted a Kansas woman of killing her husband on Fort Riley last year. The jury found 31-year-old Margaret Shafe guilty of second-degree murder for shooting and killing Greg Shafe, a U.S. Army soldier, in their home on Fort Riley in February 2024.
