The Belvue Bridge sustained more damage this past weekend after a drunk driver struck a guardrail on the bridge. At Monday’s Pottawatomie County Commission meeting, Assistant Public Works Administrator Lance Forgy noted he received a call late Friday night from the Wabaunsee County roads supervisor about an abandoned truck on the side of the bridge. Forgy says the driver was arrested later that night in Paxico. A Junction City man was injured in a rollover crash Monday in Marion County. The Kansas Highway Patrol says 59-year-old Robert Enriquez was northbound on K-15, in a rural area of northern Marion County, when his vehicle left the roadway just after 2 p.m. The vehicle traveled through a ditch and a fence then went airborne, before rolling and landing in a nearby field. Enriquez was transported to St. Francis Hospital with a suspected serious injury.

The US Army Corps of Engineers has officially closed its Tuttle Creek Park campsites and shelters for the remainder of the season as winter begins to set in. The final amenities that the park had open to the public closed at the end of October. A Topeka man is jailed in Pottawatomie County after being located Sunday in a stolen vehicle. The St. Marys Police Department says 41-year-old Jeffrey Heimberg was arrested without incident on charges of possession of stolen property and driving with a suspended license. Police were notified by Shawnee County officials Sunday of a suspicious man who had been checking door handles in the Rossville area and heading toward St. Marys. He was pulled over shortly before 4 pm Sunday. The bond amount was said to be pending as of Monday morning.
