KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police say the drummer of the rock band Tool has been arrested and charged with a municipal assault violation for allegedly using an anti-gay slur during a confrontation at Missouri’s Kansas City International Airport. Court documents show airport police arrested 60-year-old Malibu, California, resident Danny Carey on Sunday. The Kansas Board of Regents has approved new admissions standards that create a path for students to attend the University of Kansas without taking the ACT or SAT standardized tests. The Lawrence Journal-World reports that the board on Wednesday unanimously voted to allow admission of students with a 3.25 or higher high school GPA. Chancellor Douglas Girod said that high school grade point averages do a better job than ACT scores of predicting college success. K-State’s new band hall at Memorial Stadium will be named in honor of its longtime band director. The new facility will be called the Tracz Family Band Hall, after Band Director and Professor of Music Dr. Frank Tracz. It will provide the university’s marching band with designated rehearsal, storage and office space next to the field where the band practices. Plaza West redevelopment discussions were brought back to the table with city commissioners at a Tuesday work session. . The project would focus on bringing retail, multifamily housing, and hospitality to the Plaza West area. Dr. Brain Lubbers, Kansas State Veterinary Medicine Associate Professor, tells KMAN one common illness this time of year is respiratory disease, which is hard to diagnose and catch right away. “Cattle are evolutionary, they’re prey animals, right, and so they don’t want to appear to be sick.
