Kansas State University Friday unveiled a new plan with the goal of creating thousands of new jobs and bringing billions in investment to the State of Kansas over 10 years. Dubbed the Economic Prosperity Plan, the announcement at the K-State Alumni Center drew attendance from government and business officials representing both state and local level organizations. KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Police say one person died and two others were injured when a vehicle hit two pedestrians and crashed into a Walmart at a Kansas City, Kansas shopping plaza. Police spokeswoman Nancy Chartrand says the crash occurred Thursday afternoon in the Legends Outlet mall. Three people, including the driver, were taken to hospitals. One of the pedestrians later died. Chartrand says investigators believe the crash was accidental and might have occurred when the driver suffered a medical emergency.
WICHITA, Kan. — Police have arrested a man suspected in the deadly shooting last month of another man outside a southeast Wichita restaurant. Television station KAKE reports that 43-year-old Marshall Green Jr. was arrested Thursday on suspicion of intentional second-degree murder in the Nov. 10 shooting death of 45-year-old Monzell Brocks. Police say Brocks was shot around 2:30 a.m. outside a Denny’s restaurant, where he worked. Green is being held in the Sedwick County Jail without bond. Online records show Green has prior convictions and served prison terms for aggravated battery and voluntary manslaughter in Sedgwick County.

Annual reports were heard Wednesday during the USD 383 Manhattan-Ogden School Board meeting from the English Speakers of Other Languages program and Manhattan Virtual Academy. District ESOL Coordinator Emily Cherms says something they have been working on is a program called bilingual book bags. She says the bags include native language books and bilingual dictionaries. The purpose is to help incorporate dual language support for students and explain why it is important to maintain native language. Kansas State Dance is teaming up with The Bang Group to spread holiday cheer in the form of dancing.
