After pulling out a dominating 56-40 win at Lawrence Friday night, the Manhattan Indians will be the seventh-seed when the KSHSAA 6A State Tournament begins this coming Wednesday. The Indians will meet Blue Valley North (19-3) to begin the tournament at Charles Koch Arena on campus at Wichita State University. Tip time will be 2:00pm. Preparations at the National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility (NBAF) continue to move forward with promising success after the facility entered the science preparatory phase approximately a month ago. “Currently, we don’t have any pathogens or active research occurring, but scientists are able to go into their laboratory spaces and see what’s there,” said NBAF Deputy Director Dr. Ken Burton. “They can see where the equipment and items are currently located and anticipate and have discussions about where they feel they may need to be moved so their programs can be the most efficient.” Burton shared this update on KMAN’s Thursday…

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Justice Department on Thursday arrested two Kansas men on allegations that the pair illegally exported aviation-related technology to Russia and provided repair services for the equipment. Cyril Gregory Buyanovsky and Douglas Robertson are charged with conspiracy, exporting controlled goods without a license, falsifying and failing to file electronic export information, and smuggling goods in violation of U.S. law. (AP) — Two defense attorneys who’ve questioned the fairness of a yearlong investigation in Kansas into Republican campaign activities accused the state ethics commission Thursday of violating Kansas’ open meetings law.
