Following Wednesday’s announcement by Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark that the conference would be seeking to open media rights negotiations with FOX and ESPN 18 months ahead of schedule, there are reports that those discussions have heated up talk of Oklahoma and Texas exiting for the SEC ahead of the expected 2025 date currently in place. Two Junction City school buildings were briefly placed on lockdown Wednesday morning. Junction City Police responded to a call around 10 a.m. on the northwest side of the city, resulting in the nearby Karns building and Westwood Elementary school being placed into lock down in an abundance of caution. The schools went on lockdown following an unsubstantiated call reporting shots fired in the area. Officers concluded that there was no threat and no shots were fired in the area of either building.
