One person was arrested after a hit-and-run crash Wednesday afternoon in Manhattan. Riley County Police say officers were called just before 12:45 p.m. to Tuttle Creek Boulevard and Casement Road, where a 2011 Dodge Caliber driven by 27-year-old David Fliter of Manhattan was struck by another vehicle that left the scene. Investigators later identified the driver as 60-year-old Kimberly Blasing, also of Manhattan. She was located about an hour later in the 400 block of Walters Drive and arrested for aggravated battery, DUI, driving without a valid license, and failing to provide information after a crash. Officers responded to the report of an injury crash near the intersection of Tuttle Creek Blvd. and Casement Road in Manhattan on Oct. 8, 2025, at approximately 12:43 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found a 2011 Dodge Caliber driven by David Fliter, 27, of Manhattan, was hit by a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix that left the scene. Troopers with the Kansas Highway Patrol’s Troop C responded Tuesday to a serious injury crash near the Chapman interchange on Interstate 70, temporarily closing access into Chapman via Rain Road. According to the KHP crash log, the incident occurred at approximately 2:28 p.m. when an eastbound Chevrolet Impala exited I-70 at mile marker 286 and failed to yield at a stop sign. A Peterbilt semi-truck traveling through the intersection struck the Impala on the driver’s side. The driver of the Impala, 88-year-old Jerry Ray May of Colorado, sustained suspected serious injuries and was transported to Wesley Medical Center. A passenger,…
Authorities say two people were injured in a crash early Tuesday morning at Highway 24 and Flush Road near St. George. The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded just before 7 a.m. and found a northbound Honda Accord on Flush Road had collided with a westbound Kia Optima on Highway 24. Both drivers sustained non-life-threatening injuries. One was taken by EMS to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka. The crash remains under investigation, and no other details have been released.

Authorities say an unknown suspect stole thousands of dollars worth of construction equipment and tools this week, south of Manhattan. The Riley County Police Department says it happened Monday night in the 100 block of Deep Creek Road, when a 40-year-old man reported the theft, which included a wheelbarrow, a truck toolbox and copper cables or wires. The loss is estimated between $8,000 and $10,000. Police are looking for possible suspects and are seeking the public’s help.
