Rick Wright, head coach of the Manhattan Christian College men’s soccer team, will be inducted into the National Christian College Athletic Association Hall of Fame as part of the class of 2021. Wright began coaching at MCC in 1992 and has since led the team to three national championships, 19-straight NCCAA regional championships from 1997 to 2016, been named the NCCAA Coach of the Year four times and coached 20 NCCAA All-Americans. The installation of roundabouts on US-24 at K-13 and K-113 is likely a ways off. Stephanie Peterson, Flint Hills Metropolitan Planning Organization director, says that the Kansas Department of Transportation has yet to identify a funding source for those projects. “KDOT does have a construction, if you want to call it, timeline, I guess, for the K-13 intersection,” Peterson said. “They have it programmed right now for 2021. GARDEN CITY, Kan. — A rare black rhinoceros has been born in captivity at the Lee Richardson Zoo in Garden City. The zoo says in a news release that the male rhino was born Wednesday to 10-year-old Johari and her 7-year-old mate Jabari. The pair were moved from zoos in Cleveland and Atlanta in 2016 as part of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ Eastern Black Rhinoceros Species Survival Plan. MISSION, Kan. — Kansas is shifting into the second phase of coronavirus immunizations as the Republican-led state House on Thursday approved a bill that would extend the state’s pandemic emergency declaration. The 119-3 vote sends the bill to Gov. Laura Kelly, who has until Jan. 26 to act before the declaration expires. It expands the use of telemedicine and adds flexibility in health care licensing through March 31.
