Vaccine Shipments Kansas hospitals are beginning to receive COVID-19 vaccine shipments this week. Leslie Campbell, Pottawatomie County health director, says hospital staff will have up to five days to receive the vaccination. “Once they get their 24,000 doses, they’ll be able to give it to all the hospital personnel,” Campbell said. “Any hospital personnel; it doesn’t have to be nurses.” The first dose of the vaccine will be followed by a second dose about three to four weeks later. A trial for a Manhattan man accused of multiple sex crimes against three minors won’t happen until at least the summer. Riley County District Judge Kendra Lewison said Monday she’ll aim for a June trial in the case of Robert Iacobellis, who faces 26 counts including allegations of rape and aggravated indecent liberties. Riley County saw two more COVID-19 related deaths over the weekend. One of the deaths was a 76 year old male who tested positive on Nov. 28. He had been in the hospital when he passed away on Saturday. The other patient was a 102 year old woman from Meadowlark who tested positive on Dec. 1 and passed away Sunday. There have been 18 COVID related deaths in Riley County since March. The county also confirmed 71 new positive cases over the weekend, with 341 active cases. KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Authorities are investigating a deadly shooting in Kansas City, Kansas. Police said officers responded around 5:30 a.m. Saturday and found a man in his late 20s dead inside a vehicle with apparent gunshot wounds. The name of the man wasn’t immediately released. The killing is Kansas City, Kansas’, 53rd homicide of the year, according to data tracked by The Kansas City Star, which includes fatal law enforcement shootings.

TOPEKA, Kan. — Kansas residents who need a place to isolate themselves after being exposed to or testing positive for COVID-19 may be able to stay for free in a hotel rented out by the state of Kansas with help from the federal government.
