Starting today, two-way traffic on Denison Ave will be restored south of Kimball Avenue to the NBAF main entrance, while also implementing a closure extending south from the NBAF entrance to the north side of the Kerr Drive intersection. The Indians (4-1) extend their winning streak to four games, with the only loss coming narrowly in the season opener against Life Prep Academy. Dodge City fell to 0-2. K-State and Garden City Community College are joining forces to make bachelor’s degree programs available to students in southwest Kansas. This collaboration will allow students to complete their education locally, addressing a critical need in a region where only 17.9% of residents hold a four-year degree compared to the state average of 33.9%. Riley County Historical Museum will close at the end of the month for interior renovations, county officials announced Friday. The final day to see the items currently on display will be Dec. 22. Manhattan city commissioners on Tuesday will decide whether to give incentives to a project to redevelop the Commerce Bank building at Eighth Street and Poyntz Avenue. Officials from Hartfield LLC are requesting up to $15 million in industrial revenue bonds and a 10-year property tax abatement to turn the downtown building at 727 Poyntz Ave. into a retail and residential space. If passed, the ordinance would allow the developer to pay taxing entities a total of the roughly $2 million 2024 value of the building over the next 10 years.
