A house in a southwest Manhattan neighborhood sustained more than $400,000 in damage after a fire on Friday. The two-story home at 4517 Lamonte Drive showed heavy fire from the rear when 16 Manhattan Fire Department firefighters on six trucks arrived after receiving the report of a structure fire shortly before noon. Officers are investigating the theft of a motorcycle that occurred overnight in the 400 block of Manhattan Avenue. A report was filed on October 18, 2024, at approximately 2:59 PM. The victim, a 28-year-old man, reported that his 2017 Suzuki motorcycle was stolen by an unknown individual during the night. The motorcycle is valued at an estimated $6,500. Authorities are investigating a hit-and-run incident that sent a man to the hospital in Riley County on Sunday night. According to the Riley County Police Department activity report, the incident occurred just after 9 p.m. in the 900 block of N. 10th Street. A white pickup truck, driven by a woman, struck a 28-year-old male pedestrian identified as Renson Remigio Hernandez and then left the scene. Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to Via Christi Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

One man is dead, and another is in jail after a shooting Saturday in the southeast part of Manhattan, according to Riley County Police Department officials. RCPD officers found 58-year-old Don Stovall, later pronounced deceased, after receiving the report of a shooting in the 700 block of North Fourth Street at around 8:45 p.m. Saturday. Officers arrested 20-year-old Aiden Keener with probable cause after executing a search warrant in the 3600 block of Saddlehorn Trail in Ogden early Sunday morning as part of their investigation. Geary County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating following an unattended death of a woman over the weekend. Officers responded to the scene just before 2 p.m. in the 15000 block of Zumbrunn Road in Junction City on Saturday to find a 73-year-old Linda Rubash deceased. Family members discovered Rubash and the cause of her death is unknown at the time of this report. An investigation remains ongoing in the case.

A man was taken to the hospital following a crash early Monday morning in Geary County. The Geary County Sheriff’s Office reported that Nicholas Cruz, 18, of Junction City was taken to Ascension Via Christi by a private vehicle for suspected minor injuries after his 2005 Honda Accord struck a deer just after 6 a.m. Monday morning. The accident occurred on the K-18 highway near I-70 about 5 miles east of Junction City. Cruz was heading westbound on K-18 at the time of the collision. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
