Authorities say an unknown suspect stole thousands of dollars worth of construction equipment and tools this week, south of Manhattan. The Riley County Police Department says it happened Monday night in the 100 block of Deep Creek Road, when a 40-year-old man reported the theft, which included a wheelbarrow, a truck toolbox and copper cables or wires. The loss is estimated between $8,000 and $10,000. Police are looking for possible suspects and are seeking the public’s help. Mi Tierra Restaurant and Cantina in Aggieville is permanently closing after two years. On Monday, the owners of the restaurant, Bao Tran and Rebecca Reynaga-Tran, announced in a Facebook post the Mexican restaurant closed its doors. An 18-year-old Manhattan man was injured in an accident at 10:23 p.m. Monday near the intersection of North Manhattan Avenue and Fremont Street. Riley County police officers found a Lexus driven by Claire Holt, 21, of Manhattan had struck Philip Trice-Ortega, who was driving an electric scooter. Trice-Ortega was transported to Ascension Via Christi Hospital for treatment of his injuries and Holt was issued a citation for failure to yield right of way at a stop sign.
