Kansas State football fans on Saturday evening packed the northwest corner of the stadium and sprinkled in throughout the planned gold-out to watch their 18th-ranked Wildcats win a 31-28 thriller over Colorado in the first matchup between the two old Big 8 rivals since 2010. (K-State Athletics) – K-State picked up its third consecutive five-set victory Sunday afternoon, as the Wildcats came from behind to defeat West Virginia at WVU Coliseum – 26-24, 22-25, 22-25, 25-22, 15-5. Senior Aliyah Carter accounted for 17 of the Wildcats’ 65 kills while Liz Gregorski and Meg Brown both added 14. Officers filed a report of vehicle burglary on October 11, 2024, at approximately 7:27 PM in the 2700 block of Amherst Ave. Officers listed a 38-year-old female as the victim when it was reported an unknown subject broke the passenger window of her vehicle and stole a small purse containing cash and credit cards. Construction will begin today as Hostetler Drive will be closed in phases to vehicular and pedestrian traffic for full removal and replacement of asphalt pavement by Walmart. The first phase is from McCall Road south to the entrance to the American Legion parking lot and is expected to last for about two days. The second phase is from the entrance to the American Legion parking lot south to Bluemont Avenue and is expected to last Oct. 16-19.
Hutton Development is planning to buy the bank branch at 727 Poyntz Ave., tear it down and build a new building that includes retail space on the ground floor and residential space on the floors above. Hutton Development will present details of the project and financial requests to the commission. City officials said part of the request includes a 10-year property tax abatement in addition to a sales tax exemption on construction materials, which is estimated to be a $549,000 benefit.
