Kansas State junior running back Alex Barnes was one of 62 players in the nation and six from the Big 12 to earn a spot on the watch list for the 2018 Doak Walker Award, which honors the nation’s premier running back, the PwC SMU Athletic Forum announced Wednesday. K-State head baseball coach Pete Hughes announced Thursday that he has completed his staff with the hiring of Ryan Connolly as director of baseball operations while retaining Shane Conlon as volunteer assistant coach and naming Colin Greaser as director of player and program development. This is according to a release from K-State. The trio join assistant coaches Buck Taylor and Austin Wates, who were hired in June. As the director of baseball operations, Connolly will spearhead the baseball program’s recruiting efforts as well as manage the team’s travel and summer camps. Kansas State offensive lineman Dalton Risner and defensive back Kendall Adams have been named to the Preseason All-Big 12 team as chosen by media representatives who cover the league. This is according to a release from K-State. It is the second-straight year that Risner, a Preseason All-American by numerous publications, has been named to the Preseason All-Big 12 team, while Adams is a first-time honoree. Bauer pitched effectively into the eighth inning as the Indians beat the skidding Kansas City Royals 3-2 on Wednesday for a three-game sweep.
