Riley County’s Conner Holle (pronounced Holly) played a key role in getting the Falcons a pair of wins over Silver Lake last week. Holle was the winning pitcher in a 12-2 win and finished 5-7 at the plate with two 3 run homers, 6 RBI and 5 runs scored. He’s hitting .543 on the season with 14 RBI and 20 runs scored. Last season Holle started as a freshman on the Falcons 20-4 state team and hit over .400 with 32 RBI. K-State freshman Griffin Hassall was named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week following his career-long outing in picking up the victory over No. 19 TCU Thursday, the conference office announced Monday. Hassall, a native of Ontario, Canada, stifled the Horned Frogs’ offense, as he yielded one run while scattering three hits with five strikeouts over 7 2/3 innings of work. Hassall retired nine straight hitters during a stretch where he sat down 16 of 17 TCU batters overall. K-State head football coach Chris Klieman announced today that sophomore wide receiver Hunter Rison has been indefinitely suspended from the team for a violation of team and departmental policy. “Our program will be one that is built on hard work and integrity and doing things the right way,” Klieman said. “We have extremely high expectations for our players on and off the field.” Rison was arrested Friday and faces a charge of domestic battery to a family/person in a dating relationship.
