From K-State Athletics Senior guard Barry Brown, Jr., has been named one of 10 semifinalists for the 2019 Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Award presented by Bona, as announced by the Atlanta Tipoff Club (Feb. 21). Brown was one of two Big 12 players named as semifinalists, joining Texas Tech graduate transfer Tariq Owens. The Manhattan High boys swimming and diving team took home a third place finish at the Centennial League meet last week. Senior Zane Kohl won a league title in one-meter diving with a score of 458.5. This season, Kohl has won all but two meets for the Indians. Kohl is now a four-time state qualifier and has medaled each of the last two years at state. From K-State Athletics Kansas State running back Mike McCoy announced today that he is medically retiring from football due to lingering injury issues. Despite his retirement, McCoy will remain on scholarship and will be involved with the Wildcat football program in a capacity to be determined. “I want to thank God, my family, my teammates and fans for all the support throughout my sports career.
