From K-State Sports Kansas State used a strong second half on Saturday afternoon to end its 2018-19 regular season non-conference schedule with a 72-62 win over Northern Iowa at Bramlage Coliseum. The Wildcats have won seven straight home games. K-State (9-3) shot 50 percent or better in both the third and fourth quarters, as the Wildcats outscored UNI, 40-33, in the second half. From K-State Athletics Legendary men’s basketball player Willie Murrell, the only Wildcat to be named to an All-Final Four team, recently passed away at the age of 78 in Denver, Colorado. One of just 11 players to earn first team All-America honors, Murrell was a two-year letterman for head coach Fred “Tex” Winter from 1962-64 after transferring from Eastern Oklahoma A&M. He guided the Wildcats to a 38-16 overall record, including a pair of Big Eight Conference titles and a Final Four appearance in 1964. From K-State Athletics Kansas State head coach Chris Klieman announced the first part of his inaugural signing class as the Wildcats unveiled the names of 15 student-athletes who utilized the early signing period and will join the program over the next several months. The Frankfort girls are off to a hot start to the season. After taking home a tournament title in Wabaunsee to start the season, the Wildcats knocked off Valley Heights 48-34 last week – led by Emilee Ebert and her incredible stat line. (AP) Kansas State forward Dean Wade has a partial tear of a tendon in his right foot and could miss up to eight weeks, putting his availability for the rest of the season in question. Wade hurt the foot in last Saturday’s win over Georgia State. The preseason Big 12 player of the year fractured his left foot in March, sidelining him for the Wildcats’ run to the Elite Eight, though coach Bruce Weber said Tuesday the injuries are unrelated.
