From K-State Athletics Redshirt senior Kylee Zumach was named the season’s first Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week after propelling K-State to back-to-back sweeps at Hawaii and leading the conference in kills per set, the conference office announced Monday. Zumach, who earns her sixth career weekly honor, paced the Wildcats with 19 and 18 kills, respectively, in the pair of three-set wins over the Rainbow Wahine in Honolulu over the weekend. From K-State Athletics Playing against Hawaii for the second straight day due to a weather-altered tournament schedule, K-State swept the Rainbow Wahine at the Stan Sheriff Center, 25-21, 27-25, 25-19, Sunday as the Wildcat defense recorded a dozen blocks and senior Kylee Zumach picked up a team-high 18 kills. Kansas State senior offensive tackle Dalton Risner was named to two All-America teams on Wednesday as he picked up first-team honors from ESPN and USA Today. The honors for Risner are in addition to being named a First Team Preseason All-American by Athlon, and a second-team honoree by Street & Smith’s and CBSSports.com earlier this summer. (AP) Former Kansas State basketball player Amaad Wainright has pleaded guilty to felony charges related to a road-rage shooting. Wainwright pleaded guilty Tuesday to felony obstructing apprehension and aiding a felon. A charge of fleeing from law enforcement was dropped. The Wichita Eagle reports a passenger in Wainright’s car fired a handgun into another car on Jan. 17 in Overland Park as the two vehicles were traveling along an interstate. No one was injured.
