Creighton scored eight runs in the game’s first three innings Wednesday night and held on for an 8-3 win over K-State at TD Ameritrade Park. That’s according to a release from K-State Athletics. Creighton (17-6, 0-0 Big East) used a three-run first and a five-run third inning to open an 8-0 lead over the Wildcats (15-14- 2-4 Big 12). K-State’s bullpen held the Bluejays scoreless over the final six innings while scoring three runs in the seventh and eighth innings. (AP) SAN ANTONIO -The Alamodome became Donte’s Inferno as Villanova captured the NCAA men’s basketball championship for the second time in three seasons. Donte DiVincenzo torched Michigan for 31 points as the Wildcats thumped the Wolverines, 79-62 at San Antonio. The red-headed sophomore scored 18 points in the first half to help Villanova turn an early seven-point deficit into a 37-29 lead at intermission. Francisco Liriano pitched into the seventh inning in his Detroit debut and Victor Martinez drove in three runs to give the Tigers a 6-1 victory over the Kansas City Royals on a chilly Monday. KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Kansas City will be without Salvador Perez for up to six weeks after the star catcher sprained the medial collateral ligament in his left knee while carrying a suitcase up some stairs in his home. The injury occurred Tuesday night, when the Royals returned to Kansas City from spring training. The five-time All-Star heard a “pop” and immediately called Royals trainer Nick Kenney, who advised Perez to ice the knee and come in for an MRI exam Wednesday.
