Kansas State’s Kayla Goth, Peyton Williams and Rachel Ranke were recognized by the Big 12 coaches for their performances in the 2017-18 season, as the league office announced the 2017-18 Phillips 66 All-Big 12 Women’s Basketball Awards on Wednesday. Goth was named to the All-Big 12 Second Team, Williams an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention selection and Ranke was chosen for the Big 12 All-Freshman Team. This is the second straight season K-State had three student-athletes earn All-Big 12 honors. Since the formation of the Big 12 in 1996-97, Kansas State has received 48 All-Big 12 honors by 24 different players.…

Following a split of its final two home games of the 2017-18 regular season, Kansas State freshman guard Rachel Ranke was named the Big 12 Conference Freshman of the Week. This marks the second time this season Ranke has earned the honor, as she picked up her first recognition on Nov. 20. This is according to a release from K-State Athletics. Ranke reached double figures for the 17th and 18th times this season, as she helped the Wildcats to its ninth straight win over Kansas. PYEONGCHANG, South Korea (AP) Olympic figure skating has resumed with the ice dancing short program. A strong performance from Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir helped Canada win gold in the team competition. However, Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron of France and American siblings Maia and Alex Shibutani could provide serious competition. The short dance is taking place right now and will be followed by the free dance tomorrow. Kansas State looked to end a brief road skid on Saturday afternoon at Schollmaier Arena, but TCU held serve on its home floor with an 87-70 win over the Wildcats. K-State has now dropped three straight road games. PYEONGCHANG, South Korea (AP) American Mikaela Shiffrin was unable to become the first skier to successfully defend an Olympic gold in the slalom. Shiffrin finished fourth as Sweden’s Frida Hansdotter overtook first-run leader Wendy Holdener of Switzerland to win the gold. The 22-year-old Shiffrin was fourth after the opening run and couldn’t make up enough time to earn a second straight medal at the Pyeongchang Games. Shiffrin was coming off a victory in the giant slalom the previous day.
