Royals 1B Eric Hosmer was announced as an American League Silver Slugger Award winner on Thursday. The award honors the best offensive player at each position in each league. Hosmer posted a .318 batting average and .882 OPS with 25 home runs and 94 RBIs while playing in all 162 games for Kansas City this past season. He’s the first Royals’ 1st baseman to win a Silver Slugger award since George Brett in 1988.

K-State volleyball’s Kylee Zumach recorded her 1,000th-career kill Wednesday night, but No. 11 Kansas took the season’s second Sunflower Showdown in four sets, 14-25, 25-21, 25-15, 25-22, at the Horejsi Family Athletics Center. Kansas State senior linebacker Trent Tanking is one of 10 semifinalists for the 2017 Burlsworth Trophy, awarded to the most outstanding football player in America who began his career as a walk-on. That’s according to a release from K-State Athletics. Tanking is the fourth Wildcat semifinalist up for the award since its inception in 2010, joining offensive lineman B.J. According to a release from K-State Athletics, Kansas State women’s basketball completed its 2017-18 exhibition schedule unbeaten with a 61-46 win over Fort Hays State on Monday night at Bramlage Coliseum. K-State was led by sophomore forward Peyton Williams with 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting, including 14 points in the second half.
