CLEVELAND (AP) Authorities say a man charged with murder in the slaying of a former Kansas State University football player outside a Cleveland hookah bar has been arrested. U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott says officers arrested 27-year-old Jean Blevins during a traffic stop Tuesday in Cleveland. Court records don’t show an attorney for Blevins, who also is charged with manslaughter and assault. Cleveland.com reports court records indicate Blevins is accused of disposing of a gun his brother used to fatally shoot 26-year-old David Garrett in October 2014. (K-State Sports) – Following a career-high 14 tackles and his fourth-career interception last weekend at West Virginia, Kansas State linebacker Elijah Lee has been named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday morning. Lee, who picked up his first-career player of the week accolade, gave K-State its third-consecutive weekly conference honor as Dominique Heath (Florida Atlantic) and Byron Pringle (Missouri State) picked up the special teams honors the previous two weeks. (Josh Brunner) – Former Kansas State track and field national champion and two-time Olympian Erik Kynard, Jr., has been named an assistant track and field coach, Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Cliff Rovelto announced on Monday. Kynard will assist Rovelto with the high jumpers and combined eventers, while also helping in recruiting efforts.
