K-State is now 7-3 overall and 4-3 in Big 12 play after last night’s loss to Arizona State 24-14 at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. Even thought the Wildcats are not eliminated, the loss leaves K-State’s chances slim to take it to Arlington, Texas for the Big 12 championship game. Plus, winning the Big 12 championship would now be the only shots for the ‘Cats to make the College Football Playoff. K-State needs a lot to go their way at this point to make it to Arlington. First reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Thursday, Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker has been placed in injured reserve due to a knee injury. Butker will need arthroscopic surgery on his left knee. By going on IR, he will be sidelined for at least the next four games. The Chiefs signed kicker Spencer Shrader off the New York Jets’ practice squad to replace Butker on the 53-man roster. The rookie out of Notre Dame is 2-for-2 on field goals and 3-for-3 on extra points this season. Butker has scored the 3rd most points in Chiefs’ history with 975.

Thursday night in Bramlage, K-State men’s basketball (2-0) will host the LSU Tigers (2-0) out of the SEC. Tipoff set for 8:00 pm. K-State will play LSU third consecutive season. The Wildcats won a neutral-site contest at the 2022 Cayman Islands Classic and then beat LSU in the Maravich Center in Baton Rouge, La., last season. The game will be a return to Bramlage for former Wildcat Cam Carter. He played 2 seasons at K-State, averaging 10.4 points in 70 games in his career.
