KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) The Chiefs have placed Justin Houston on the physically unable to perform list and put fellow linebacker Josh Mauga on injured reserve as they trimmed down to the NFL’s roster limit. Houston is still recovering from surgery in February to repair a non-functioning ACL in his left knee. He will continue his rehab and be evaluated by Dr. James Andrews during the Chiefs’ bye week in early October with the hope that he will play at some point this season. Mauga tore the labrum in his hip in early August. He will have surgery on Sept.…

Boston (AP) – Raul Mondesi hit a bases-loaded triple and Eric Hosmer added a two-run single during an eight-run sixth inning, lifting the surging Kansas City Royals to a 10-4 victory over the Boston Red Sox on Sunday night to win their 7th straight series. The inning was the biggest for the Royals since they scored eight against Arizona on Aug. 5, 2014. Nori Aoki hit a grand slam in that inning. Miami, FL (AP) – One run was all it took for the Royals to beat the Marlins. Yordano Ventura escaped two threats while pitching six innings, and the Kansas City Royals extended their winning streak to nine games by beating the Miami Marlins 1-0 last night. Kansas City has now won five straight on the road. Ventura (9-9), who reached 101 mph on the scoreboard radar gun, allowed six hits and one walk while striking out six.
