Power will be out for a portion of St. Marys on Thursday. The St. Marys Police and Fire Department said in a Facebook post that there will be a scheduled power outage on Thursday (Sept. 30) beginning at around 7:30 am. Officials say that the outage will affect the area North of Mission Street to Maple Street from the 200-400 blocks. No specific reason was given for the planned outage. PetPoolooza kicked off Saturday for its 14th year in Manhattan and allowed pet owners and their furry friends some quality swim time before the pools shut down for the year. The annual last day for the pools also serves as a fundraiser for Manhattan’s T. Russell Reitz Animal Shelter. Aquatics Director Sydni Baker explains why this event is held at the city park pool. After a year hiatus, Everybody Counts proceeded without a hitch. The ninth annual event was held at Manhattan’s Douglass Community Recreation Center. The event offered free health screenings, food assistance and COVID vaccinations. Douglass Center DIrector Dave Baker said an event like this is beneficial to the community. In addition to COVID vaccinations, other services were offered to event goers including dental, mental health, vision, hearing and sports physicals as well as education of other services that are offered to the public.
