For 66 years 1350 KMAN has been the area’s leader for news, weather, and K-State sports coverage in Manhattan on the AM dial. Manhattan Broadcasting is proud to announce that it has acquired an FM translator at frequency 93.3 to carry KMAN’s programming on the FM band. The signal will provide excellent coverage 24 hours per day for the Manhattan, Junction City, and Wamego area.
With the addition of the FM signal KMAN, the 2014 Kansas Association of Broadcasters Station of the Year, will be accessible to more listeners than ever with KMAN available for the first time on the FM band. KMAN’s 1350 AM signal is required by the FCC to reduce transmitting power at local sunset, a limitation that is not applicable to the FM band. As a result, listeners who were unable to receive KMAN programming at nighttime hours will have the option of listening to the 93.3 FM signal preventing any interruptions. Listeners will also have expanded coverage in FM sound quality for local news and severe weather as well as KMAN’s sports coverage of Kansas State University, Kansas City Royals, Kansas City Chiefs, and area high school sports.
As of Monday, the 93.3 FM signal is operational and simulcasting the 1350 KMAN broadcast. KMAN can be heard at 1350 AM, 93.3 FM, as well as online at 1350kman.com.
