JUNCTION CITY — A U.S. Marine Corps veteran has been nominated to become the next Geary County Sheriff.
Daniel Jackson was nominated by delegates from the Geary County Republican Central Committee Saturday morning. The purpose of the meeting was to select the successor to Tony Wolf, who resigned after pleading no contest to charges of theft and misuse of public funds in Geary County District Court in late April.
Jackson and Undersheriff Brad Clark both expressed interest in the job. Jackson was voted 27-9 at Saturday’s committee meeting to serve as sheriff. The committee will send letters to the governor and secretary of state with their nomination and the governor will then have seven days to sign off on the selection.
