K-State announces procedure for enforcing face-covering policy

Kansas State University has released it procedure for addressing students who are in violation of its face-covering policy.

K-State president Richard Myers recently announced a slight revision to the university’s face-covering policy, requiring face coverings to cover mouths and noses in all indoor and outdoor spaces unless alone outdoors, in a private work space or office.

First-time offenders will receive a letter reminding them of the policy and responses to further offenses

A second offense will result in an administrative hearing with the Office of Student Life dean.

A Student Review Board will hold a hearing for third-time offenders where sanctions such as removal from the classroom, university property or temporary loss of student status will be considered.

Violations that occur in housing and dining facilities will follow a similar process and will also be considered during the university-wide enforcement process.

Steps may be skipped if elevated concerns are involved.

Faculty and staff with questions or concerns about how to deal with the face-covering policy can contact the Office of Student Life at 785-532-6432.
