The Kansas Department of Health and Environment is reporting a 10th COVID-19 related death in Riley County.

The patient was a 96-year-old female resident of the Homestead Assisted Living facility in Manhattan. She tested positive on Aug. 31 and died about a week later on Sept. 7.

Homestead Assisted Living has been the site of a COVID-19 outbreak that is set to expire Thursday if no more cases are identified. The outbreak has been associated with 22 positive cases and four deaths.

Riley County is also reporting 36 new positive cases and 76 recoveries since Monday. This brings the county’s total number of active cases to 91 and recoveries to 1,903.

Two outbreaks in Riley County have expired, leaving 13 as active.

Ascension Via Christi Hospital is currently caring for two COVID-19 positive patients.

The Riley County Health Department, KDHE and the Kansas National Guard will host two free testing sites in City Park this week. The first will take place on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. and the second on Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m..
