Konza Student Table passes 10,000-meals-served threshold

The Konza Student Table has officially served over 10,000 meals to K-State students and their families.
The organization began last September as a way to fight hunger among Manhattan’s college-student population.
Ericka Bauer, a K-State hospitality management instructor who is in charge of the meals the Konza Student Table provides, credits the success to the nutritious food being served.
“We offer a variety of meals,” Bauer said. “I have yet to repeat an item that we have served and I try to maintain it towards the international component of our campus.”
Despite the accomplishment, Bauer says she has mixed feelings about meeting such a threshold.
“I’m very happy that we’re able to fill a certain void, but then I’m also sad because the void is there,” Bauer said.
According to Bauer, the Konza Student Table serves between 400 and 600 students per week.
The Konza Student Table takes place every Wednesday in the St. Isidores Catholic Church parking lot from 5:30 p.m. until food runs out. Meals are served in a drive-thru format.
