When Lori Bishop of the RSVP of the Flint Hills travelled to Washington D.C. for a national board meeting of the group she didn’t have any idea she would end up close to a mass shooting. But that’s what happened Monday with the Washington Navy Yard tragedy , very close to Bishop’s hotel.
Bishop adds security is evident in the area. And she says one can walk by any restaurant or business, with people congregated around TV”s. Bishop indicates conflicting reports were coming out immediately after the shooting, which made it confusing.
The Manhattan resident says the shooter was apparently staying at a hotel only a half mile from hers, and security was tight there.
13 people died in the shooting, including the shooting suspect.
