McCain Performance Series returns with six live events this fall

Live performances are returning to McCain Auditorium at Kanas State University.

Todd Holmberg, auditorium director, tells KMAN six events are being offered this fall beginning on September 16 with a small-town Midwest girl herself, Sara Evans.

“She has a sound that is kind of similar to Faith Hill and Martina McBride, for those of you who really aren’t familiar with Sara Evans,” Holmberg adds.

Holmberg says that this event will also be the first event that the community can see the new McCain lobby as well as other completed construction projects at the auditorium.

Following the performance from Sara Evans will be the band America, which oddly enough, was not started in America.

“They have kind of a cool story. They were kind of high school kids, not in America, they are Americans, but they actually formed the band in London.”

Holmberg tells KMAN the band members had military family stationed in London, but they decided to call themselves America so they wouldn’t be confused with British people trying to sound like they were from America.

America is a Grammy-award winning band and will perform at the McCain Auditorium September 24 beginning at 7:30PM.

Holmberg says along with those two performances, there will also be live performances from Boz Scaggs, The Carole King Musical, and two Christmas shows. The first of the two Christmas performances is from the Canadian Brass Band on December 8.

“A lot of family fun, Holmberg adds. “This is a great show to bring your whole family to and just relax and listen to some gorgeous Christmas tunes. These guys are five of the top brass players on the planet.”

Holmberg says just a week later, on December 14, Mannheim Steamroller will be back in town with a Christmas performance themselves.

“You could argue that they are the most popular Christmas attraction of all time, or at least right now.”

All performances begin at 7:30 PM in the McCain Auditorium. Online ticket sales begin August 2 at 8AM at For those looking to buy in-person or over the phone, call the box office at 785-532-6428. For more information visit
