Riley County commissioners approved the final agreement for the Riley County Police Department firing range.
Craig Cox, Deputy County Counselor, told the commission Monday that this is the final matter for the firing range. The county negotiated a water line easement through the adjacent properties to bring water to the range.
“The two settlement agreements are there,” Cox says. “The Mertz’s settled for $10,000 and Mr. Akin’s settled for $1,250. They signed the agreements last week and I also, at the same time they signed the agreements, had them sign the water line easements.”
Cox says the Mertz property was interesting to deal with since it is split four ways between four trusts. With all of the documents signed, Cox says they now have the easements in place.
Public Works Director Leon Hobson authorized construction of the travel easement to begin as soon as possible.
