MANHATTAN — Riley County Police responded to 172 calls for service during the 2019 Fake Patty’s Day activities in Manhattan.
The official statistics were released Friday morning. The 172 calls decreased significantly from 2018’s activities which saw 287 calls for service. Complaints ranged from, but are not limited to parking problems, welfare checks, disturbing the peace and non-injury accidents. Police took just one report of violent crime and filed 52 reports total, not including alcohol related crime. Police took 122 reports last year.
A total of 39 physical arrests were made, including 19 for DUI, six for disorderly conduct, three for unlawful possession/consumption of alcohol by a minor and four for possession of marijuana. That’s down from 47 arrests made in 2018.
In addition, 260 citations were issued including 61 for possession of an open container, 23 for possession of alcohol by a minor, 117 for parking issues and 26 for minor obtain or purchase alcohol. Citations were also down this year from 494 in 2018.
RCPD had assistance from Emporia, Junction City and Lawrence Police Departments as well as K-State Police, the Kansas Highway Patrol, Kansas Wildlife Parks & Tourism, the Lyon and Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Offices and Fort Riley, Riley County EMS, Riley County Emergency Management and Manhattan Fire as well as the Kansas Bureau of Investigations and Kansas Alcohol Beverage Control.
