    The following summary of calls for service/reports filed by the Riley County Police Department is a portion of those received by police.  Some names, addresses, and case details are withheld to follow local, state, and federal law as well as in an attempt to protect community members from being victimized further.  Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

    MANHATTAN, KAN. –

    Officers responded to a report of an injury crash in the 1000 block of S Scenic Dr in Manhattan on August 24, 2020, at approximately 10:13 AM. When officers arrived on scene they found a 2019 Nissan Frontier driven by Lois Garrison, 60 of Manhattan, struck a 2016 GMC Canyon driven by Donald Andrew, 26 of Manhattan. Andrew and Garrison were transported to Via Christi for treatment of their injuries. Garrison was issued a citation for failure to yield on left turn.

    Officers filed a report for burglary in the 700 block of Bertrand St in Manhattan on August 24, 2020, at approximately 11:58 AM. Officers listed a 35-year-old male as the victim when it was reported an unknown suspect took his Ryobi reciprocating saw, handheld air compressor, weed eater, leaf blower, 2 18V batteries, and a charger. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $940.00. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Using the Crime Stoppers service can allow you to remain anonymous and could qualify you for a cash reward of up to $1,000.00.

    Officers filed a report for theft in the 400 block of Fremont St in Manhattan on August 24, 2020, at approximately 5:49 PM. Officers listed a 22-year-old male as the victim when it was reported an unknown suspect took his 2014 Dodge Avenger. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $14,000.00. Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Using the Crime Stoppers service can allow you to remain anonymous and could qualify you for a cash reward of up to $1,000.00.

    Officers responded to a report of an injury crash near the intersection of Casement Rd and Tuttle Creek Blvd in Manhattan on August 24, 2020, at approximately 9:26 PM. When officers arrived on scene they found a 2003 Jeep Liberty driven by Abigail McIntyre, 18 of Manhattan, struck a 2013 Ford Mustang driven by Thomas Leggio, 19 of Manhattan. Leggio was transported to Via Christi for treatment of his injuries. McIntyre was issued a citation for failure to obey traffic control device.
