New cases of coronavirus are holding steady for the most part in the Manhattan area.
The Riley County Health Department reported a 58th overall case Monday morning, a 63-year-old male patient who was a close contact of another confirmed positive patient. The county has seen a significant increase in the number of people who have recovered from the virus. As of Monday afternoon, 46 people had recovered and the county was monitoring 12 active cases. On Friday, the county was monitoring 21 active cases.
A total of 683 patients in Riley County have tested negative for the virus. County health officials are also awaiting the results of 22 tests.
Ascension Via Christi Hospital has two positive patients and two persons under investigation (PUIs) currently hospitalized. One of the positive patients in the hospital is a Riley County resident.
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment lists 21 total cases for Pottawatomie County, though it’s unclear how many of those are active cases. Pottawatomie County releases its daily data at 4 p.m. Geary County has also reported 16 total cases.
Statewide, Kansas has had now reported 7,116 total cases since early March. So far the virus has claimed 158 lives and there are 660 people hospitalized as a result.
