Riley County is reporting 125 new positive COVID-19 cases since Wednesday.
Along with the new cases, 128 people have recovered since Wednesday’s report as well. This puts the county at 388 active cases. Ascension Via Christi is monitoring 10 positive patients.
Since March, 3,905 people have tested positive for the virus. A total of 3,501 (90 percent) have made full recoveries. A total of 16 deaths have also been logged during that period.
A total of 657 people were swabbed at the free testing event on Thursday. Free drive-up testing will be offered again December 10 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at CiCo Park in Manhattan.
Testing will be offered every Thursday except Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve. Future testing dates are December 10, 17, 21, 28 and Jan. 7. Additional testing dates may be added in January.
At the Manhattan Area Recovery Task Force Meeting Thursday, hospital president Bob Copple estimated public access to a coronavirus vaccine could be available in the Manhattan area by April or May at the earliest.
