Riley County says it could begin easing up COVID restrictions in the coming weeks if case numbers continue to decrease.
On Monday, just 23 new cases along with 89 recoveries were confirmed by the health department, bringing the number of active cases to 186.
Ascension Via Christi Hospital is currently caring for five positive patients, three of which are in the Intensive Care Unit.
Because of extreme cold temperatures forecast over the next several days, the CiCo Park testing location is closed. County health officials said Monday they are searching for an alternative indoor location for testing to resume.
“Hopefully they’ll be able to utilize our Alternative Care Site, so we’ll discuss that a little further so they can still do some testing this week,” said Riley County Health Department Director Julie Gibbs.
A free mobile testing site is available at the Manhattan Town Center parking lot near Texas Roadhouse Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon.
The health department says it will likely begin vaccinating all adults 65 and older this week in addition to those with severe health conditions. No appointment is necessary.
Vaccination registration forms are still available on the county website and have been changed from the previous form.
