As of Monday, 107 active cases were being monitored by the health department with 338 recoveries and five total deaths among the 450 total cases reported since March. Four patients were hospitalized Monday with 2 persons under investigation showing symptoms and 140 test results are pending. Pottawatomie County remains at 5 active cases as of Friday, with 104 recovered.
Gibbs says the downward trend is a sign that patrons are heeding the health department’s warnings. She reminds those wanting to host an event with 50 or more people to fill out a request form on the Riley County website.
The health department was scheduled to meet with K-State officials Monday to determine how the university will proceed with athletics for the fall. The Big XII is expected to rule at any time about plans for the college football season. All other Power 5 conferences have already released adjusted plans for their respective schedules.
