Riley County has distributed $7 million in CARES act funding throughout the county.
Speaking to the Riley County commission Thursday, Budget and Finance Officer Tami Robison wanted to update the commission and the public on how much money was going out to keep up with transparency.
$591,000 is going to towards the small business and non-profit grant programs, with more to be distributed later on. Riley County departments and agencies have received $1.3 million. The City of Manhattan have received all of their funds and have used them mostly for public health costs and personal protective equipment (PPE), as well as a portion to help pay for the fire department’s salaries.
The City of Riley has been using their funding for salaries and supplies as well, with around $48,000 left to spend. The Cities of Leonardville and Randolph will not be requesting any more expenses.
Manhattan-Ogden USD 383 has collected all of their funds and used mostly for supplies, technology, social distancing equipment, and PPE. Blue Valley USD 384 has around $6,000 dollars left to spend, which will go towards agriculture equipment. Riley County USD 378 has used of their funding for distance learning, technological supplies and PPE.
The county received a total of $14.9 million in CARES act funds to distribute throughout the community. Robison says she wants to commissioners to have a copy of these distributions on hand in case the public has any questions.
