TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) House and Senate negotiators have reached an agreement on a Kansas school funding measure, setting the stage for an evening vote to satisfy a court order. The deal reached Saturday would increase state spending in an effort to address unconstitutional funding levels flagged by the Kansas Supreme Court in its March 7th ruling. Several dozen teachers converged on the Statehouse on Saturday to lobby legislators on the tenure issue.
