JUNCTION CITY — Police have arrested a third suspect in connection to an alleged capitol murder case involving the death of Junction City woman Jenna Schaefer.
Junction City Police say 37-year-old Jeremiah Joseph Grubb was arrested around Tuesday afternoon in the 600 block of West 5th Street. Grubb was arrested on charges of conspiracy to commit capitol murder. Schaefer, who was pregnant at the time of her death, was found Christmas morning dead from an apparent gunshot wound.
While executing a search warrant, police also arrested 20-year-old Julia Ridenour of Junction City on a drug possession charge and possession of a stimulant and drug paraphernalia. Both are being held at the Geary County Detention Center without bond.
Two other Junction City men also face charges in connection to Schaefer’s death. Mashaun Baker, 33, is charged with capitol murder. He was arrested Jan. 2. Dion Green, 33, was arrested Christmas Day on two charges of first degree murder. Officers have said they believe Baker hired Green to carry out Schaefer’s murder.
An official with Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt’s office confirmed to KMAN last week that the Geary County District Attorney has reached out to Schmidt’s office for assistance in the case. That request is currently under internal review.
