    Update: 14-year-old arrested on gun charges identified by RCPD in arrest report

    Update 8 a.m. Tuesday

    MANHATTAN — A Geary County teenager was arrested late Sunday night after reports he was walking around carrying a gun near 17th and Poyntz Ave.

    The Riley County Police Department says the 14-year-old male suspect was taken into custody without incident sometime after midnight and arrested on the offenses of criminal possession of a weapon by a felon and criminal use of a weapon; barrel of firearm less than 12 inches. The 14-year-old was identified in Tuesday morning’s RCPD arrest report as Zane Tilcock. He was transported to the North Central Kansas Regional Juvenile Detention Center.

    According to scanner reports, Tilcock was in possession of a duffel bag which contained multiple weapons allegedly stolen from various residences.

    No further details have been released.

    11 a.m. Monday

He was arrested on the offenses of criminal possession of a weapon by a felon and criminal use of a weapon. According to scanner reports the suspect was in possession a duffel bag that contained multiple weapons allegedly stolen from various residences.

    The juvenile was transported to the North Central Kansas Regional Juvenile Detention Center where he remains confined.

    Because he is a minor, his name is not being released. RCPD has released no further details.
