Two people were killed this morning after a truck struck two pedestrians north of Manhattan.
The incident happened shortly after 5 a.m. in the 4400 block of Tuttle Creek Blvd (US 24). According to Kansas Highway Patrol, a Riley County snow plow was westbound in the right lane of the highway and struck two pedestrians who were walking in the right lane.
KHP says 22-year-old Anthony Toler and 20-year-old Jayden Rosa, both of Manhattan, sustained fatal injuries. The circumstances that led to the accident remain under futher investigation. It’s not clear why the two men were walking along the roadway.
Riley County Commission Chairman Marvin Rodriguez issued the following statement Friday morning following the crash.
“The accident is a tremendous tragedy for all those personally involved and our community as a whole. Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to all involved in the accident.”

Two people were killed Friday morning after a Riley County plow truck struck two pedestrians north of Manhattan.
The incident happened shortly after 5 a.m. in the 4400 block of Tuttle Creek Blvd (US 24). According to Kansas Highway Patrol trooper Ben Gardner both pedestrians died at the scene. The crash involved a Riley County Public Works plow truck, removing snow from the roadway. Details of the crash weren’t immediately available.
Riley County Commission Chairman Marvin Rodriguez issued the following statement Friday morning following the crash.
“The accident is a tremendous tragedy for all those personally involved and our community as a whole. Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to all involved in the accident,” Rodriguez said.
The names of the deceased have not been released. The Kansas Highway Patrol is in charge of the investigation. The patrol said Friday motorists could expect significant traffic delays.
