A Manhattan doctor has had his medical license temporarily suspended, after a state regulator said letting him practice would cause danger to the public.

According to the Kansas Board of Healing Arts, an emergency order went into effect Wednesday, suspending the license of Dr. Kenneth Fischer, owner of the Plastic Surgery Clinic in Manhattan. A record released Thursday shows Manhattan Surgical Hospital suspended his clinical privileges indefinitely as of Jan. 20, and revoked on May 8. He was a former shareholder at the hospital.

It’s unclear why the board ruled the way they did. Both instances given are listed as confidential. The board has stated that “grounds exist for disciplinary action; and the immediate continuation in practice by Licensee would constitute an imminent danger to the public health and safety.”

In 2019 the Board of Healing Arts also took disciplinary action against Fischer following a 2015 investigation into his work as the director for Customskin Medspa in Topeka. Online court documents on the board’s website show Fischer was fined $2,500 and ordered him to write a 500-word essay and take an online class from John Hopkins University for violations including:

* unprofessional/dishonorable conduct and or professional incompetency
* knowingly allowing medical services to be performed by employees unsupervised, who were not licensed
* failing to keep records that met the minimal requirements for adequate medical records for patients receiving care.

A Manhattan doctor has had his medical license temporarily suspended.

According to the Kansas Board of Healing Arts, an emergency order went into effect Wednesday, suspending the license of Dr. Kenneth Fischer, owner of the Plastic Surgery Clinic in Manhattan. The state’s website has not been updated to show the documented reason behind his suspension.

Fischer was once a shareholder with Manhattan Surgical Center but is no longer listed as one on their website.

In 2019, the Board of Healing Arts also took disciplinary action against Fischer for his role with Customskin Medspa in Topeka.

KMAN will provide additional details when they are made public.
