USD 383 warns of new scam involving sports sponsorships

0
By Brandon Peoples on October 11, 2019 Local News, Manhattan

USD 383 Manhattan/Ogden Schools is alerting families of a scam circulating the area involving out of state companies calling local businesses seeking sponsorship of Manhattan High School apparel.

According to a statement from the district, these businesses include Sportsmedia/Texas and Riddell All American Sports/CA are falsely claiming they are working with Manhattan High School and/or coaches. One of the scams involves telling local businesses they are working with the MHS cheer coach – falsely using her name to scam folks out of money.

MHS says it is not working with either of these companies. If your business is contacted and/or have made a payment, you should call Riley County Police at 785-537-2112. Those wanting to check the legitimacy of a solicitation can contact MHS Athletic Director Mike Marsh 587-2100 or Communications Director Michele Jones at 587-2000.
