A citywide mask mandate in Wamego will expire Saturday, after city commissioners there opted not to take action to extend it at their Tuesday meeting.
The commission did adopt a resolution recommending a proactive approach by community members to prevent the spread by social distancing and wearing a mask when in large groups.
Vaccines remain available by appointment only in Pottawatomie County.
The health department says it is planning a review of processes and determining if a different approach is feasible after issues developed with contacting some on their lists and a number of no-shows at clinics.
A new scheduler is being used by Pottawatomie County on a trial basis, but very limited options are available for people to sign up and schedule a vaccine directly. More information is available at pottcounty.org.
Ascension Via Christi Hospital will have a vaccine clinic available at the Tulip Festival April 17 and April 18 in Wamego where shots of the single dose Johnson & Johnson coronavirus vaccine will be administered on a first come first served basis.
A local official told KMAN Friday, the clinic will have the capability of vaccinating up to 500 people.
