After a successful opening year last year, the Everybody Counts event was held again in Manhattan. Saturday’s event took place at the Riley County Seniors Service Center, in conjunction with the Manhattan Town Center community fair.
Everybody Counts aims to help the homeless and the less fortunate, by rounding up several services in one place.
Area non-profit organizations and agencies offered services from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Free health consultations were available: vision, dental, medical, and mental.
In an effort to assist with the event, aTa bus offered free rides all day long for participants.
Not only was the location in close proximity to the community fair, but it was also near Salvation Army. A winter gear distribution was held at Salvation Army during the same hours as Everybody Counts.
The Harvesters food distribution was set up at the parking lot at the corner of 3rd and Leavenworth from 9-11. A free meal was also served from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the seniors center.
