Two 1st Infantry Division Soldiers who recently returned from Afghanistan defeated 76 of their fellow Rangers to earn a top 15 spot at the recent 30th Annual Lt. Gen. David E. Grange Jr. Best Ranger Competition. The event was held at Fort Benning, Georgia.
Lieutenants Christopher Siok and Samuel Gulland, both assigned to 1st Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, finished the competition in 13th place. The “Black Lion” duo was the top division-level finisher.
The Best Ranger Competition is a U.S. Army event supported by the National Ranger Association. Events conducted during what’s been described as a grueling three-day competition include the Darby Queen Obstacle Course, the tomahawk throw, the spot jump, the buddy run and a night assault course.
