Emergency crews responded to an injury collision near the intersection of the 100 block of Bluemont Avenue and Frontage Road in Manhattan Tuesday afternoon at about 2:45 PM. Riley County Police found that a 1997 Ford CNT 4-door driven by Nitasha Ruff, 37, of Kansas City, Kansas was traveling east on Bluemont Avenue and preparing to turn north onto Frontage Road.
During the process of turning this vehicle was struck by a 2012 Chevy Equinox SUV, driven by Mackenzie Brown, 24, of Manhattan. Several people were transported to Via Christi Hospital for complaint of pain to include Ruff, Brown, and a 17-year-old female from Kansas City who was an occupant of the Ford CNT. Neither Ruff nor Brown were listed as patients at Via Christi Wednesday.
At the time of this report one citation was issued to Ruff for the traffic offenses of failure to yield right of way and no proof of liability insurance.
