Jury Selection To Begin In Parker Murder Case

Jury selection will begin for a trial of what prosecutors are calling the first degree murder of a National Guardsman.

The decision was made at a Monday afternoon pretrial hearing in a Riley County court.

Daniel Parker stands accused of killing 21-year-old Frederick Beverly as he was standing outside a local motorcycle clubhouse on January 1st 2012.

Parker is a former Fort Riley soldier.

Police described the shooting as a “drive-by” style incident.

Assistant Riley County prosecutor Barry Disney says nearly 100 selection notices have gone out to the community, and the formal selection process begins at 08:30 am on June 24th in Riley County court.
